Raid della Leonessa 2026 – Third Edition

Brescia, Lake Iseo, Valcamonica, Riva del Garda · 3-4 October 2026

Once again this year I couldn’t miss the Raid della Leonessa, the classic car rally held under the patronage of ARACI (Associazione Rotariana Automobili Classiche Italia). I took part with my Jaguar E-Type Roadster Series 1. The proceeds of the event go to the Amico Campus service project of Rotary District 2050. My heartfelt thanks go to my fellow Rotarian Claudio Seddio, ARACI Vice President and District 2050 delegate, whose dedication has made this wonderful initiative possible once again.

Saturday 3 October – from Lake Iseo to Lake Garda

We gathered early in the morning in Iseo, in the car park of the municipal sports ground. From there we followed the lakeshore to Pisogne, where Valcamonica begins, then passed through Piancamunio, Gianico and Artogne to reach Darfo Boario Terme.

Our first cultural stop was Luine Park, a UNESCO site since 1979 in the heart of Camunian rock art. It holds the oldest engravings in Valcamonica, some dating back to the Paleolithic, and the largest number of Camunian roses, the symbol of the Lombardy Region. For information on the whole site, see vallecamonicaunesco.it.

After lunch at the restaurant of the Hotel Sorriso in Boario Terme, we set off towards Bienno and the Crocedomini Pass. The route crosses the three Brescian valleys: from Valcamonica to Val Trompia, then Bagolino (famous for its cheese) and Val Sabbia down to Lake Idro. From there we entered Trentino, passing Lake Ledro on the way to Riva del Garda, where we stayed at the Astoria Resort. The day ended with a “Tyrolean” dinner at the Kapuziner restaurant, a short walk away.

Sunday 4 October – the Gardesana and the Vittoriale

Unfortunately I couldn’t take part in the second day, but my fellow travellers told me about it with great enthusiasm. From Riva del Garda the group drove the western Gardesana road, one of the most spectacular in the province of Brescia, carved into the rock between the mountain and the lake. The programme took in Limone, Gargnano, Bogliaco and Toscolano Maderno.

The final destination was the Vittoriale degli Italiani in Gardone Riviera, the complex Gabriele D’Annunzio began building in 1921, with its house, gardens, amphitheatre and mausoleum. After a guided tour, lunch brought the event to a close.

Thank you

Thank you to Claudio Seddio, to the promoting Rotary Clubs and to all the crews. See you at the next edition!
