MORGAN CLUB RALLY LITTLE TIBET 2025

MORGAN CLUB RALLY – LITTLE TIBET

18–21 September

INTRODUCTION

Morgan Club Italia has chosen a rally truly worthy of its drivers: the Alpine passes of Valtellina and the Engadin, the splendid scenery of the Bernina, Stelvio, Saint Moritz, and Livigno.
A unique experience enriched by the hotel’s wonderful spa and a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride at the foot of the Bernina.
For the lovers of twisty roads – among which I proudly count myself, at the wheel of my 1979 Morgan Plus 8 3500 – an optional alternative route is planned for Saturday, taking on the curves of Passo Forcola, Bernina, Julierpass, and the Albula Pass.

DIARY – INTRODUCTION
I had been waiting a long time for a rally like this. My Plus 8, polished to perfection, seemed just as excited as I was: engine warm, full-bodied roar, and that unmistakable smell of “real” petrol that takes you decades back in time.
I knew these would be intense days, filled with scenery, friends, and unforgettable mountain curves.

DIARY – DAY 1
In Chiuro the rally atmosphere was already tangible: a parking area full of Morgans lined up like jewels. My Plus 8, with its silky Rover V8, caught the attention of the more nostalgic participants.

The road to Livigno was the first taste of the adventure: wide bends, cool air, and a clear sky. My Morgan felt light, almost floating, and the V8 rumble echoed between the valley walls. Upon arriving, Livigno welcomed us with its alpine scent of wood and mountain air.

Dinner was pleasant, filled with conversations among enthusiasts and the feeling that the best was yet to come.

DIARY – DAY 2
The Bernina in the morning is something magical. The chilly air entering the cockpit mixes with the warmth of the V8, and it’s a sensation only a Morgan driver can truly appreciate.

St. Moritz slipped by elegant as always, but Val Roseg really struck me: silence, horse-drawn carriages, glaciers hanging in the air. For a moment I left the steering wheel behind and simply soaked in that timeless atmosphere.

In the afternoon, however, the call of the mountain passes became irresistible – I chose the long route.
The Julierpass and Albula Pass were a symphony of curves and rhythm changes. My Plus 8 behaved like an acrobat: precise and lively despite her age.
Returning to Livigno, I was exhausted but smiling ear to ear.

Maloja Pass → Chiavenna → Michelin-starred lunch → return.

DIARY – DAY 3
The Stelvio. The name alone is enough.

Setting off at dawn towards those legendary switchbacks was thrilling; taking them on in a 1979 Morgan is pure poetry. My Plus 8 warmed up, vibrated, pushed – it felt born for this pass.

Reaching Trafoi, with all the Morgans parked in front of Hotel Bellavista, was like stepping into an alpine postcard.

The road over the Resia Pass was more flowing but equally evocative: that submerged bell tower, glimpsed while driving, is an image that always leaves a mark.

The return via the Munt la Schera tunnel, with its alternating lights and shadows, was the final act of an intense day.

Dinner at Passo Eira, filled with laughter and stories about the day’s curves, was the perfect closing.

SUNDAY, 21 SEPTEMBER 2025

Farewell

After breakfast, the “Certificate of Participation” is handed out and the rally officially ends.

DIARY – DAY 4
The final morning always has a touch of melancholy.
I started up my Plus 8 gently, almost in silence, as if listening to her.

Watching the other Morgans leave one by one made me realise how lucky we are to share this passion.

On the road back home, the V8 was humming softly.
So was I.
