Historical Notes and Documentation

As declared by the FIAT Historical Centre and certified by FIAT Classiche, chassis no. 224789 corresponds to a long-wheelbase FIAT 1100 chassis, produced on 23 May 1947 and originally destined for the Turin market.

The official registration extract states that, due to flooding of the historical archive, the volume concerning this vehicle was damaged; therefore it is not possible to reconstruct the early ownership history prior to the digitalisation of the documents.

From 1988 it belonged to two collectors from Palermo until 2015 when it passed to the current owner, who began a long and careful reconstruction project completed in 2023, fully documented by an extensive photographic record showing all stages of the work: chassis, bodywork, paintwork, mechanics, electrical system and upholstery.

Technical Features and construction Quality

The construction has been carried out with great attention to authenticity, following the construction standards of period Stanguellini Sport models.
Expert metal craftsmen recreated the bodywork using the dimensions of the original tubular sub-frame as a reference, ensuring accurate reproduction of shapes, volumes and proportions.

The quality of the workmanship is outstanding, with finish, symmetry and curvature fully consistent with late-1940s artisan construction.

A period FIAT 1100 engine was sourced and then fully rebuilt to as-new condition, including complete machining and replacement of all wear components, as specified in the detailed work sheet.

The car is fitted with an original Stanguellini gearbox, an important and correct component for this type of sports configuration.

All work sheets, invoices and documentation issued by the specialists involved are available.

Administrative Status

The vehicle retains its last Palermo registration from 1954; it has never been deregistered, and the registration document still bears the description:
FIAT 1100 SPORT STANGUELLINI.

Due to insufficient historical documentation, ASI/FIVA certification cannot be obtained.
