Touring Superleggera in the Tuscan Mugello

This autumn as well, I took part in the gathering of the International Touring Superleggera Register, a club I have belonged to for many years and where I have many friends and clients whom I always meet with great affection.
For this event too, I participated with my splendid 1966 Aston Martin DB6 Superleggera, a car I have owned for almost 20 years and that has accompanied me to countless rallies in Italy and abroad.

My daughter Veronica joined me on this occasion, attracted by the extremely interesting cultural and sightseeing program that, as usual, distinguishes the Register’s events thanks to the guidance of its president, Franco Ronchi, always very attentive in selecting the program and caring for every detail.
Thanks to him, to the tireless secretary Alessandra Giorgetti, and to all their closest collaborators, every event is always successful and truly unforgettable.

MY PERSONAL TRAVEL DIARY

When we arrived in Mugello, the landscape immediately gave me that sense of peace only the Tuscan hills can offer. Veronica, as always, enjoyed taking photos of our DB6 as we drove along tree-lined roads. The sound of the six-cylinder engine, on those gentle curves, seemed fuller than usual.

That evening we walked through the center of Borgo San Lorenzo. Even though we were tired, we treated ourselves to a glass of Chianti in a small tavern — one of those simple moments that set the right tone for the whole weekend.

During the visit to the knife-makers of Scarperia, I was struck by the artisans’ mastery. One of them showed me an old decorated knife model from the 1930s; it made me think of my Aston Martin, of materials, of the value of tradition.

On the Passo della Futa, the DB6 performed beautifully. Veronica laughed every time I attacked a curve with a bit more enthusiasm. The landscape, the smell of chestnut trees, the silence of the mountains — everything created a timeless atmosphere.

My favorite moment, however, was at Badia di Moscheta. Pure tranquility. We took half an hour just to walk in the woods beside the abbey, without speaking, simply enjoying nature and the sound of the stream.
