MERCEDES BENZ 190 SL 1956 1000 MIGLIA ELIGIBLE
TOTALLY RESTORED
This extraordinary Mercedes-Benz 190 SL, one of the first examples produced, stands out for its prestigious historical pedigree. With chassis number 781, it dates back to the early months of 1956, making it one of the most sought-after cars by enthusiasts and collectors of the brand.
Like all 190 SLs built up to 1957, this example is eligible for the legendary 1000 Miglia, the famous historic race defined as “the most beautiful race in the world”. The model has numerous details that differentiate it from subsequent versions, including the sports seats and the characteristic small rear lights, details that make it particularly rare and sought after.
From the official factory documents, it can be seen that this car was produced at the beginning of 1956 and shipped on 27 February of the same year to the official Mercedes-Benz distributor in Los Angeles, USA. It has spent its entire life in the United States, with Oregon as its last state of registration before importation to Italy in 2013.
In 2015, it was acquired by the current owner, who began a complete restoration between 2016 and 2022. The works, carried out by companies specialized in the restoration of vintage Mercedes-Benz models, were carried out with the utmost respect for the original configuration, restoring the car to its authentic splendor.
In 2023, it was duly registered in Italy and since then it has traveled approximately 2000 km, demonstrating reliability and perfect efficiency.
It is now put up for sale because, in the long period that has passed since the beginning of the restoration, the owner’s needs have changed. This Mercedes-Benz 190 SL, perfectly restored and ready for use, represents a unique opportunity for a demanding collector who wishes to start the engine and enjoy the pleasure of driving from next season.
