Provenance and History

This rare Aston Martin DB2/4 Saloon, built on February 21, 1957, left the Newport Pagnell factory and was exported to Venezuela on June 14, 1957, where it was delivered new to John Fairfield Jr. and registered with plate AMZ948, still supplied with the car today.

On September 30, 1987, the car was imported into Italy and cleared through customs in Milan.
Following a meticulous three-year restoration, it was registered in Brescia in 1990, where it remained under the care of its single Italian owner for 34 years, who participated in the most important historic car events and concours.

Authenticity and Certifications

  • 1990: Awarded ASI Targa Oro, the highest Italian certification for originality and historical correctness.
  • 2002: Received FIVA Identity Card (Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens).
  • 2022: Granted the British Motor Heritage Certificate, confirming full matching numbers and factory specifications.

In 2017, the engine underwent a complete rebuild by the renowned WAMA workshop in Brescia, specialists in classic Aston Martins. Since then, the car has covered fewer than 2,000 km.
An itemized invoice for all work and parts is included in the documentation.

Technical Features

The DB2/4 is powered by the legendary 2.9-litre inline-six designed by W.O. Bentley, featuring the upgraded VB6L/1 cylinder head.
In “Saloon” form, it produces around 140 bhp, enabling a top speed of over 190 km/h — impressive for a 1950s grand tourer.

The four-speed manual gearbox, chrome wire wheels, and electric power steering enhance its refined yet engaging driving experience.
Combining sporting performance and luxury craftsmanship, the DB2/4 represents the final evolution of Aston Martin’s hand-built pre-DB4 generation.

Current Condition

Always carefully maintained, the car is insured, road-registered, and in excellent mechanical order, with a valid inspection certificate.
Offered reluctantly due to the owner’s age, it is ready for use and eligible for the Mille Miglia and other prestigious historic events.

A truly remarkable example with impeccable provenance, matching numbers, and complete documentation, making it a highly desirable collector’s Aston Martin.
