1936 SINGER LE MANS SPECIAL SPEED
Imported to Italy still in good condition in its original ivory livery with green fenders, it has undergone a complete and documented restoration. The combination of light blue with blue leather interiors falls within the range of colors in the catalog at the time. In 2015 it was duly registered, in 2016 it obtained the ACI / CSAI Fiche and in 2017 the ASI gold plate approval.
This beautiful model of the “Le Mans Speed Special” is in like new condition having circulated very shortly after the restoration.
All the mechanics are new and the underbody is perfectly clean as just restored.
During the mechanical restoration phase, an electric water pump was applied because in this model at the time the circulation system was only by siphon.
The current conditions of use during the rallies, with parades and prolonged stops have suggested the adoption of this system which in any case does not compromise the originality of the car as it is easily removable.
In the past this car was also used successfully in trial races, very popular in England and an interesting article in a magazine of the time is available which talks and illustrates this car engaged in the “Edinburgh Trial”.
This Singer model is certainly the most iconic of the brand and is the one that was involved in many sporting competitions of the time. In addition to participating in the “24 hours of Le Mans” from which he obtained his name and popularity, he distinguished himself and won in numerous hill climbs, trial and endurance races such as the “Liège -Roma Liège” or the “Alpine Cup Rally “.
Its small 972cc overhead valve engine powered by two SU carburettors supply 38hp and is still able to give considerable driving satisfaction today.
