ABOUT

PORSCHE 911 2.7 CARRERA 1974 210 cv

READY FOR REGULARITY SPORT RACE

ONE OF ONLY 1036 PRODUCED

The 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS is one of the most iconic and high-performance cars of its era.

This rare example is one of only 1,036 units produced by Porsche, equipped with a 210-horsepower engine featuring alusil cylinder liners, an innovative technology at the time that ensured high performance and greater durability.

Ownership and Competition Preparation

Since 2000, the car has belonged to a passionate gentleman driver, who initially used it on the road. However, after a few years, he decided to entrust its preparation to the renowned race car tuner Orlando Redolfi, aiming to participate in historic Group 4 rallies.

In 2004, the car obtained ACI-CSAI-FIA certifications, necessary for historic regularity racing. The preparation carried out by Redolfi focused on several key aspects to enhance its competitiveness while preserving the authenticity of the engine.

Preparation Details.

The main modifications include:

  • Upgraded braking system for improved safety and race performance.
  • Close-ratio gearbox, optimized for competition.
  • Sport suspension and shock absorbers, designed for superior road holding.
  • Brake master cylinder for better braking modulation.
  • Rally exhaust, enhancing the engine’s sound and performance.
  • Fiberglass bumpers and hoods, reducing overall weight.
  • Plexiglass side windows and rear windshield, further weight reduction measures.
  • Roll bar, ensuring safety in racing conditions.
  • Racing seats and harnesses, homologated for competition use.
  • Fire extinguisher system, a mandatory safety feature for racing.
  • Three sets of tires, suitable for various weather conditions (street winter tires, dry, and wet).
  • Important note: The engine has not been modified, ensuring its authenticity and integrity—an essential factor for the car’s historical and collectible value.

Current Use and Road Configuration

Currently, the vehicle is used exclusively for historic regularity competitions. To allow for road use and pass periodic inspections, the following components have been reinstated:

  • Standard seats
  • Street exhaust system
  • Street tires and wheels
  • Standard seat belts
  • Removal of the roll bar

Preserved Original Parts

All original parts removed during the competition conversion have been carefully stored, allowing for a possible restoration to its factory configuration:

  • Front and rear bumpers
  • Heated rear windshield and windows
  • Front hood
  • Front and rear seats
  • Complete interior trim
  • Original seat belts
  • Factory steering wheel
  • Electric windows
  • Front and rear brake discs and calipers
  • Front and rear shock absorbers
  • Spare wheel

Conclusion

This Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS is not just a race car but also a significant piece of automotive history. The balance between racing modifications and originality makes it a unique and highly desirable example among collectors and historic car enthusiasts.

The competitive price makes this car a unique opportunity, allowing you to enjoy it in its current configuration, but leaving a significant margin for a possible restoration to its original configuration.
