At the Meano Concours d’Elegance
I absolutely couldn’t miss the VI Concorso d’Eleganza for Historic Cars Meano: the invitation came from my friends Alberto Camossi and Enrico Barba, and the event remembered Vincenzo Tenchini, who passed away last May.
So, on Sunday 24 September aboard the Aston Martin DB6 I reached the Meano Castle, in the lower Brescia area.
The courtyard of the splendid seventeenth-century residence quickly became crowded with oldtimer, youngtimer and instant classic wonders. Alongside Tazio Nuvolari’s Fiat 1400, which arrived from Mantua with the team of Club AMAMS, a 1909 Itala 16, the oldest car in the concours; not far away is a unique piece, the 1949 Zanussi from the Museo Nicolis, next to a Bugatti EB110.
Around midday the sixty cars set off towards Brescia, reaching the Museo 1000 Miglia for lunch. Then back by car, towards Villa Feltrinelli in Gerolanuova, in whose park the awards ceremony for each class was held.
A very pleasant day, where I met old and new friends. Thanks to the Rotary Brescia-Meano, which with ACI Storico organized an event which, year after year, brings increasingly prestigious cars to the so called “low lands”.
